Our physical body is only a temporary dwelling. The Bible compares it to a tent because it is not our permanent home. One day, every one of us will leave this earthly body behind, either through death or at the coming of the Lord. Therefore, we must not live only to satisfy the desires of the flesh while neglecting our souls. Instead, we should use our bodies to glorify God, knowing that they are the temple of the Holy Ghost. As this earthly tent grows older and weaker, let it remind us that our eternal home is with God. Live each day with eternity in view, for this tent will one day be exchanged for an everlasting dwelling prepared by the Lord. Scriptural Readings for the Day 2 Corinthians 5:1 (KJV) “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 12:7 (KJV) Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Prayer Heavenly Father, help me to remember that this body is only a temporary tent. Grant me the grace to use it for Your glory, to walk in holiness, and to live each day with eternity in view. Amen.
